Printing Frameset Documents with ScriptX

When this frameset is first loaded, no printing functions in ScriptX are called, so at this point all printing behaviour is as for Internet Explorer - for example, select Print Preview from IE's own controls now.

When ScriptX is initialised, it will take over all print and preview functions within Internet Explorer.

Select the template type to use:

The default template type is for IE 5.5/6 behaviour for IE 5.5/6 browser versions and IE 7 type behaviour for the IE 7 browser.

Where is the ScriptX object? The ScriptX object has been declared on the frameset document. In this way, the ScriptX object can "see" all frames within the document and, more importantly, can be easily referenced from any frame by the use of "top."

With the IE 5.5/6 template, ScriptX does not provide scripted preview of an individual frame (MaxiPT can be used) but does provide for scripted printing of a single frame. The IE 7 template (available with ScriptX 6.3 and later and works with IE 5.5 or later) does provide frame preview, as illustrated in the top right frame.

Frames can print themselves, or request another frame is printed, or, the whole document, as laid out on screen, can be printed:
